As the end of the school year approaches at Summerville, it is time to elect next year’s Student Body President.

In order to be considered for the position, the candidates must have Student Council membership since freshman year, have no referrals or no re-occurring behavior infractions, as well as 20 service hours per semester.

The candidates running for office this year are Isabel Harlow, Anna Simmons, and current junior class president Page Vick.

Elections will be Thursday April 26, 2018, all students currently in 9th, 10th and 11th grade will be voting for their own class representatives and the Student Body President during homeroom.

What the candidates said…

Isabel Harlow

“It would be really fun to go out with a bang and represent the whole student body and bring new things into the school and new ideas.”

[Some of my ideas include] “a lock in for Student Council, so we can discuss things we want to do in the school, so everyone in Student Council can voice their opinion”

“I have a lot of ideas for next year, like a field day for students and bringing back Powderpuff – but during the school day”

Anna Simmons

“I’ve had a very active role in Student Council every year of high school, and I’ve always wanted to [do] more but I’ve lost every year. But I want to have more community service projects.”

“This year I really stepped it up with the memes.”

“What makes me unique is my meme posters, and I also think I can get people to listen.”

Page Vick

“I chose to run for Student Body President because I love Summerville, and it is something I’ve wanted to do since freshman year. I have looked up to every Student Body President that we had”

“I want to increase school spirit and make sure everybody feels included.”

“I have feel like I have a lot of friends spread out around the school, so I feel like I can bring input from a lot of the population of the school.”
