In the 21st century there are constantly new gadgets coming out for people all over. The latest of these abstract inventions are fidget gadgets. Within this interesting group of trinkets one tends to stand out: fidget spinners.
Fidgets spinners (along with the rest of these gadgets alike) were originally designed for people who struggle with things such as focusing, hyperactivity, stress, and anxiety. Fidget based gadgets are meant to satisfy something called a sensory issue.
Sensory issues deal with how a person gets rid of the energy they are not using at a given time. For example, some people who have anxiety will resort to biting their nails in a situation that can be nerve racking or overbearing.
Fidget spinners have actually been quite successful in taming the sensory issues students have.
“It is almost like a subconscious tick, and it replaces me shaking my leg or biting my nails. So it provides that same relief” said Ashton Soebeck, junior.
However, with the sudden rise in popularity for fidget toys everyone is interested. The problem that this raises, is that sime students actually should not use them in class. Instead of a helpful tool, it becomes a distraction for some.
Some teachers have actually band fidget spinners from there rooms, while other teachers encourage them. With these two sides a question is raised: “are fidget spinners a good thing or are they bad?”
