Google Maps was created to help people find their way to different locations, but is Google a good source or a bad source for location purposes? Lately people have been feeling as if Google Maps is an invasion of their privacy because of the new feature, street view.

Street view is a feature that allows anyone to type your address in and see how to get there and see the surroundings of the address put in. Street view does in some ways invade people’s personal privacy because it makes it so others can look up addresses as they please. On the other hand when someone is trying to get to a destination it’s a lot easier to use google maps rather than getting directions from someone step by step, which can be a very time consuming process.

“In my opinion google maps is not invasive at all. Especially when I’m looking for a house or something instead of driving into a stranger’s yard I go to the correct house. The only thing that Google maps needs to improve on is updating their software more frequently.”Officer Williams states.

In other opinions, Google maps can in some ways can be invasive.

“To me Google Maps is kind of invasive. The reason why is because it doesn’t really show anything but the top of your house and street.” Eddie Oliver, senior, states.

Google maps can also be seen in a negative perspective due to all the things people can see and search.

“If you use it then you do and if you don’t then you don’t but it’s all your decision” states Chandler Newton, sophomore.

If you use google maps then it’s a privilege and a benefit all at the same time.

“No, it’s not all up in your business, it’s perfect” says Brett Cox, junior.

Overall, Google can be a great privilege to have, but some people may take it for granted; however, if one were to weigh the pros and cons the outcome is great. Google Maps helps people find a destination and get them from point A to point B, bottom line.
